Starting a Blog for Free

For Starting a blog for free, there are many tools available. However, before spending time and effort on creating a blog and writing blog posts on a free blog, you must ask yourself a few questions. Answers to these questions will decide what kind of blog you should be making. –

What is the purpose of your Blog?

If you would like to start a blog simply as a hobby, and you do not have any intentions to commercialize or popularize your blog, the free platforms may suit your need. On the other hand, if you would like to create a blog with a commercial purpose, you should re-think your ‘free’ strategy.

Most people like to start a blog with a purpose to monetize and make money from it. If that is your intention, then a free blog platform is not your answer. Rather, you should be thinking about spending a little amount of money and do it in the right way. There are ways that you can start a blog with very little amount, and scale it as it gets popular. That can lead to creating income.

In this article, I will first explain the ‘nearly free’ methods of creating a blog, and will then show you some totally free platforms.

Best way to start your own Blog

Before starting a blog for free, here are a few things that you need to consider –

Ease of creating a Blog

When you are just starting out, it is very important that you should be able to create a starter blog with ease. If you are not familiar with the technology behind creating a website, you should be able to have someone else create the basic framework without having to spend too much money. Of course, the best option would be to be able to create it yourself. Ease of starting your blog for free, therefore, is quite important.

Scalability of your blog website

As you begin posting on your website, you will need the scalability of the blog to allow you to grow. Once you begin building up your audience and followers, you will want to have the flexibility to improve and enhance your blog as you desire. Whatever technology or platform you use, it should allow you to scale as needed.

Responsive nature of your website

Data shows that more and more people are accessing the internet using their smart phones and tablets. While there is a large enough number of people who use their laptops and desktops to access internet, this number is slowly reducing as more and more smart devices are coming in the market.

Your website should be responsive to the type of device that is used by your visitors to access it. Current web making technologies and platforms are mostly responsive, adjusting the look and feel of your website according to the device that it is being seen on. This is an important factor without which your blog will have a tendency to lose popularity quite rapidly.
